Benefits of Seamless Rain Gutters over Traditional Rain Gutters

The two most common types of rain gutters are categorized in regards to how they fit onto your roofing frame. Owing to the importance of the rain gutters, it is critical to get a clear understanding of how they fit onto your roof. Rain gutters are used, to not only guide rain water safely down to the ground or a water collection point, but to also keep the basement, garages, and every crawl space free from unnecessary moisture. They also protect the house siding, especially the material just below the roof, which is in most cases, wood. Apart from that, rain gutters serve the purpose of protecting the immediate top soil close to the foundation from erosion. Therefore, how the rain gutter fits onto the side roof of your house matters a great deal to its performance in doing its job. The two main types are traditional rain gutters and seamless rain gutters.

Traditional Rain Gutters

seamless rain gutterThese come in short sections that are fixed successively with each other until they fit specific lengths of your roof. In most cases, the last section is either too big or too small to complete the fitting on the length. Therefore, an extra section has to be cut in order to complete the fitting. The downside of traditional rain gutters is, the connections made onto the sections create seams, which increase the chances of leaks on the gutter length.

Seamless Rain Gutters

Seamless rain gutters, on the other hand, are custom-made to fit the lengths of your roofing. The result of this is, there are fewer connections made along the length, which leads to very few or no seams at all depending on how perfect the rain gutter is tailored to fit the roofing. In most cases, the only places with seams are usually at the end of the length; the corners where the downspouts are connected to the rain gutter.

Advantage of seamless rain gutters over traditional rain gutters

  1. Seamless rain gutters have fewer chances of leaks compared to traditional rain gutters. The seamless ones only have less than a handful of seams, specifically at the points where the downspouts are connected to the rain gutter. Even so, such connections are perfectly fitted and insulated. This leads to fewer chances of leaking, which translates to complete, if not perfect, performance of the rain gutter.
  1. Seamless rain gutters require maintenance on a less regular basis. This is because, with fewer leaks, come fewer complications such as rust on the connectors. Moreover, seamless rain gutters have fewer spaces that are vulnerable to leaves getting stuck on them. The ripple effect of this is, the seamless rain gutters need maintenance less often compared to traditional rain gutters.
  2. Seamless rain gutters are easier to install compared to traditional ones. Fewer seams on the lengths of the rain gutters mean lesser time required to fix and secure the rain gutter to the roof, thanks to the elimination of the connections needed to be done on the seams.
